Songs of the week (belated)

So I didn't update my songs for the week/what I'm singing in the shower and I felt bad because my sister, Becca, who is living in Africa has no music. So she always tells me that she gets on her computer and listens to my blog while her and Spencer dance around. I put up the new Christmas music which is a lot of what I've been singing lately with the kids, but I had to also put up some of the non-Christmas stuff as well for Becca. Now for some quick explanations.

Love Like This: I've liked this song for a while and then I saw the video and liked it more. I have a small crush on Natasha and her voice is pretty hot. It's just a fun song to sing.

Taking Chances: Celine Dion was on Oprah a few weeks back. Jess Tivo's Oprah so she can watch it during Carter's mid-night feedings. Well, she was watching it the other day and I heard this song. I had no idea it was Celine and liked it. I was shocked to find out it was Celine because it didn't sound like her usual stuff.

I had to keep 'I don't feel like dancing', 'Elephant love medley' and 'Eye of the tiger' because I'm still singing them.

Low: Just a good song to bump to in the car.

Tis the season

So it's time to change the mood for the blog to Christmas. It's that time of year and since we've already decked our halls here at home I figured it was time to deck the blog too. I'll have some new pics soon of the lights, tree and kids, but until then just enjoy the new music.

I was a little disappointed in the Project Playlist database when looking for songs for my list. They didn't have all of my favorites so that's why there are only a few songs so far. I'll look for more once I have time. I still really like the versions I found. Some by new artists and some by old. One of my new favorites is by Relient K and even though I couldn't find it on Project Playlist, I found it on MySpace. So if you'd like to hear their version of Sleigh Ride, head on over and take a listen.

Tagged again!

Well, things have been pretty busy here in the Price household lately. I haven't had time to do much with my blog like change my background, my songs of the week or anything else for a while. I have some time this morning and was looking at a few friends blogs and noticed I had been tagged. This one should be kind of fun.

Random Thought:
I was tagged by Kristi to disclose 7 interesting things about me. Here goes:

1. I have 21 screws in my mouth. Some of you know this, some of you don't. I had jaw surgery when I was 17 and they used screws to put it back together since it's kind of hard to put a cast on a jaw. They are still there and always will be. I can even feel the ones across my upper gum line and no, they don't set off metal detectors.

2. I have a fear of deep water. Well, if I can't see or feel the bottom. It starts to freak me out. My overactive imagination takes over or something. It's probably the worst in lakes which is ridiculous because I'm a lot bigger than anything in there, but it still happens. If I can see the bottom it's okay though like when we went scuba diving. We jumped in where it was 85 ft. deep, but I could see the bottom and everything was fine.

3. Hi, my name is Seth and I'm addicted to fantasy sports. I've started getting control over it the last year or so. I love crunching numbers and doing live drafts. If I could get paid to play fantasy sports I'd be the happiest millionaire in the world. Seriously. I've cut back though because I've realized how important family time is. I have half as many teams as I had two years ago.

4. I'm a HUGE dreamer. Because of that I set lofty goals for myself. Some people criticize me for it saying I'm just setting myself up for failure. I look at it like I wouldn't have even been able to do half of it if I hadn't set the goal in the first place. Then if I do end up achieving my goal it's a great feeling. Just wait until you see my resolutions in January and you'll know what I'm talking about.

5. I've been on ESPN's Sportscenter. It was always a dream of mine and it finally happened last year. Jess got us tickets to sit on the front at the Jazz/Lakers game. I'm a Lakers fan and we sat right behind their bench. I mean RIGHT BEHIND. We were about 6 feet away from Kobe Bryant and he even gave me five while walking out of the tunnel after halftime. I was the only one. It was awesome. Anyway, during Sportscenter they had a shot of him sitting on the bench and you could totally see Jess and I sitting right behind him plain as day. We recorded it and I will always cherish it.

6. Jess and I had several 'connections' before we even got married. She met one of my best friends and college roommate, Tom, while he was on his mission in Germany and she was traveling Europe singing with her H.S. music group. They realized this at Ricks when our apartments first met. I served my mission in So. Cal. and in my last area I went to church at the same building as her grandparent's. Her brother originally got his mission call to my same mission, but it later got changed. Oh, and we dated each other's roommates before we got married. It was meant to be.

7. I'm a HUGE University of North Carolina basketball fan. I have the shorts, shirts, hats, beanies, banners, shoes and even a UNC Nutcracker that is on my desk right now. One of my dreams/goals in life is to go to a UNC/Duke basketball game. If I ever get a ferrari, I may just have to paint it UNC blue. If I had ever gotten a tattoo it most likely would be the UNC logo or maybe Michael Jordan logo (he went to UNC) or the Nike swoosh (Jordan made Nike what it is). If I could, I'd want my eyes to be UNC blue. I want a swimming pool with the UNC logo in the bottom. I'm planning on taking an online class from UNC just to say I was a student there at one time. Yep, it's an obsession that goes along with fantasy sports and chocolate.

Okay, I'm supposed to tag 7 people. I think I'll tag Megan, Kristie, Becca, Cindy, Heidi, Raina and Sarah.

Tis the day of thanks and I wanted to share the things I'm most thankful for.

- I'm thankful for my beautiful wife who is so very patient, understanding, and supportive. When I'm an idiot, she forgives me. When I do something weird, she laughs along. When I have crazy ideas, she knows it will pass. (c: I'm so lucky to have her in my life. She's a wonderful mother to our children and a blessing to me. I will forever be grateful that she said 'yes'.

-My super cute kids. Sure they get on my nerves from time to time, but I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. They teach me so many things and I'm extra thankful that Carter has been an amazingly easy baby and hope it continues that way.

- I'm thankful for my parents who raised me in the gospel and tried to keep me out of trouble. They are such good examples and I'm lucky to be their son.

- For my sisters who put up with constant teasing even though we're older. I miss them and can't wait to see them again.

- I'm thankful for my in-laws even though they probably think that I'm not. Sure, they're a little crazy, but it wouldn't be as much fun if they weren't. I'm thankful they accept me and care about our family.

- For the gospel and the guidance and direction it gives me. I'm thankful for the chance to serve in my calling. I'm extra thankful right now for the scriptures and the peace and comfort they give me.

- I'm thankful for all my wonderful friends. For a lot of my life they have been my family and I will always consider them family. They are always there to listen, to make me laugh and to just talk with. They are great examples and so supportive.

Now for the one word answers:
Fantasy sports
Did I mention Chocolate?

Kids say the darndest things

So Kaylee and Austin have been saying some hilarious things lately and I'd like to start sharing them. Sometimes they remind me of that Bill Cosby show "Kids Say The Darndest Things". Sometimes it reminds me of the innocence of a child. Sometimes it reminds me that they are always watching and listening. Which is what happened this morning.

Kaylee, Austin and I were having a 'hide and seek' game with a missing movie and running around the house trying to find it. Then out of the blue as I ran into the powder bath I stubbed my toe. Oh the pain! The agony!!! It was horrific. I thought for sure I'd look down and see some sort of blood on my sock. It at least had to be broken. As it happened I let out a rather loud moan and started mumbling under my breath. This is what happened.

Me: UUUUUUGGGGHHH!! Gosh dang it! AAAAAHHHHH!!! Son of a ........biscuit eater! Mumble mumble, grumble grumble"

At this point I turn and sit down on the toilet to look over the permanent damage that had to have happened. Wondering if I would be able to keep the toe or if they would have to amputate the mangled mess. Then Kaylee comes around the corner.

Kaylee: Where is the son of a biscuit eater daddy?
Me: Huh?
Kaylee: The son of a biscuit eater.
Me: Oh, ummmmmmmmmmm. I don't know. (blushing and feeling sheepish as I hear Jess trying to hold back her giggles on the couch)

Oh the innocence of a child. It will be amazing if my kids turn out okay. By the way, the toe is fine. No blood. Nothing broken. I'm playing basketball tomorrow morning. (c:

Music of the week

So the layout changed for Thanksgiving and so did all the songs. Sorry, no Thanksgiving songs, but these will suffice. Here are the meanings behind the songs.

Scissor Sisters-A friend introduced me to a site a while back where you could paste your head onto a dancing person. It was a promo for Scissor Sisters and this was the song playing. It's catchy and I dig the disco vibe. I heard it on tv this past week and it lit the fire within once again.

Elephant Love Medley-I've known about this song from Moulin Rouge for a few years, but never seen the movie until 2 weeks ago when Jess' brother had us watch it. Once again, a blast from the past that I can't get out of my head since then.

Eye of the Tiger & Good Vibrations-I've started playing basketball in the mornings at 5:30 to get back into shape. I remember listening to these songs to get pumped up when I played ball back in the day. They also motivate me and there are a few business opportunities coming up that I'm excited about and I've been singing "Eye of the Tiger" all week.

Our Song & No One-Just two other songs stuck in my head.

Peanut Butter and Jelly

Yep, that's Kaylee and Austin. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. There is a song called peanut butter and jelly on a cd we have that they love to sing and it always reminds me of them. If you see one of them, the other isn't far behind. It's been hard for Austin since Kaylee's been going to preschool. He always asks when she'll be home and is excited to see her when he wakes up from his nap.

They are always playing together and Kaylee was actually the one to help Austin go potty for the very first time last month. I was on the phone, Jess was gone, Austin came and said he needed to go potty (but he had never actually gone before) so Kaylee took him into the bathroom, sat on the big toilet across from him and cheered him on. Next thing you know I get off the phone & Jess walks in the door as Kaylee is running around yelling that Austin went potty and clapping her hands. She was so excited!

So here are a few recent pics of them together. Only one of them is posed and you can guess which one that is. The rest are just from sneaking up on them while playing.

I just hope that Carter won't feel left out as he gets older. They are really good with him, but we may need to have one more so Carter and the other one can be the slices of bread on that pb&j sandwich.

Here they were playing house and it was 'naptime'. I almost didn't catch it. You can see that Austin is starting to smile because he heard me trying to get closer to them.

They LOVE looking at all the toy magazines coming for Christmas.

The only downside of them playing together so well. Jess just kept laughing. I kept asking him to go change. They thought it was hilarious.

Carter update

Yep, this blog is about Carter........Carter.......and more Carter. I haven't put any more pics up for a while, yet we've taken a lot. It's hard for my family since they live so far away and want to see him badly so this is mainly for them and also our other friends who live far away. Enjoy!

Carter's 1st bath

Austin having a moment with his new little bro

A couple of halloween outfits given to Carter by family and friends.

So sweet and innocent.

The kids can't get enough of Carter and always want to hold, kiss, touch, talk or play with him.

More music

So it's been a week and I have some new songs stuck in my head. Two that I've known for a while (Your Call & I'm Yours) and then a new one I heard a couple weeks ago (Sweetest Girl). I was looking for the one that's REALLY stuck in my head, but it's hard to find a song online called 'Peanut Butter & Jelly' by an LDS a-cappella group. The kids love it and it's kind of catchy so we've been singing it a lot. A little cheesy, but cute.

New Music

I've realized that you really get to know what's on a person's mind or what they are listening to by listening to them in the shower. Since I don't listen to many people in the shower, besides myself, I decided to share the songs I've been singing lately. The list will change probably about every week because I always find new stuff or am in different moods.

There will probably be at least one pop song, one country song, one rap song and one acoustic song each week. The others are just extras that maybe my family & friends haven't heard, but that I'd love to share. I hope you all enjoy.

Tis the season!!!

That's right folks. The 2007-2008 NBA season has begun and I'm all over it. Who better to put on my layout than the man himself, Michael Jordan.

The only sport I might love more than NBA basketball is college basketball. I love everything about basketball. Playing it, watching it, analyzing it, writing about it, dreaming about it, playing fantasy basketball, the playoffs, the shoes, march madness, rivalries, 5 on 5, 3 on 3, full court, half court, it doesn't matter, I love it all.

I may sound a bit out there right now and I probably am because I'm so excited it's the start of the season, but it's hard not to get excited when North Carolina (my favorite sports team of all time) is ranked #1 in the college preseason polls.

Also, the Jazz (who I have started rooting for the last few years since Karl Malone and John Stockton are gone) are becoming serious contenders and Jess and I will be going to several games this season.

However, my heart remains to be with the L.A. Lakers when it comes down to it. I may not like all the players, but I have to be loyal.

Anyway, I decided to change my layout to match the season. Most people are thinking about Thanksgiving, but I'm thinking of how thankful I am for basketball. I met most of my best friends while playing basketball. It brought us together and formed a brotherhood, even if we don't like the same teams. We keep in touch by playing fantasy basketball and it brings back old memories of running fools off the court and talking trash. Now I'm a few steps slower and quite a bit heavier, but it's still fun to run the court.

Bilibed anyone?

Well, Carter is our first to have a bad case of jaundice. Not bad enough to stay in the hospital, but bad enough to have a "Bilibed" delivered to our house to boost his bilirubin levels. I didn't think much of it at first, but when they said he had to be on it 22 of the next 24 hours and only take him off to feed, well, that's kinda sad. You have a bundle of joy delivered into your life and after 2 very long days surrounded by tons of people in the hospital you have to go home and can't hold him for another two?

Well, great news. He's doing better and they picked up the 'bed' today so we've been enjoying him more than ever. He did pretty well, but it was sad to see him in there. Kaylee and Austin can't get enough of him and he's been sleeping really well so far. Even on the Bilibed. Last night he only woke up every 3 hours to eat. Can't complain about that for being 5 days old. Austin didn't do that until he was probably 1!!!! Okay, maybe a little exaggeration there, but it felt that way. We pray Carter will keep on keepin' on the path he's on now.

Kaylee and Austin seem SO big since Carter was born. Wonder why?

The infamous Bilibed, aka "Blue glow"

Halloween '07

This year was a bit different since Carter joined the family only 5 days ago and only one of us could take the kids out. Jess offered to stay home and I had a friend bring his little boy over to go trick or treating with us. It was fun and very, very short. I think we hit a total of 9 houses at which point Kaylee and Austin both suggested it was time to go home. Actually, they suggested that after house 3 where a little dog come running out and scared them both to death. Yes, they have a fear of dogs and so it put a little damper on the evening. I wasn't ready for them to be done and had to convince them there were no dogs at any of the other houses. They still had fun and hopefully next year will be better.
Austin's cousin, Nate, came over earlier in the day to get pictures taken since they were both Batman this year. Who woulda guessed?

Jess' brother is living with us for a while and helped start the pumpkin while I finished up some work in the office.

I loved this face.

Loved this one too.

It's hard to take a night pic without a tripod. You get the just of what it looked like though, right?
